Conference Technical Tour Available: RWDI Wind Tunnel Facility | May 13

Monday, May 13, 2024 • 1:00 pm (Tour bus will leave The Sutton Place Hotel at 12:00 pm)

Attendees will tour RWDI’s state-of-the-art wind tunnel facility (located just outside of Toronto), used extensively by their consulting engineers & scientists to conduct air flow and turbulence visualization tests of scaled buildings and surrounding environs. Wind tunneling modeling is recognized by the USEPA and others as a highly useful tool, going beyond mathematical modeling, to assess and mitigate odours from a variety of sources such as industry, hospitals, and sewage treatment. The planned tour will include a view of the facility’s model shop, an opportunity to enter an idle tunnel, and a live demonstration of a tunnel in operation.

Odour Management: Embracing Global Perspectives

Toronto, May 14-16, 2024

A&WMA Ontario and A&WMA International are co-hosting this global technical conference at the Sutton Place Hotel in Toronto on May 14-16, 2024. This 3-day event will cover odour science, policy and regulation, chemical forensics and source identification, field assessment methods, electronic sensing, sampling methods, modeling, controls and mitigation, community impacts, and best practices. Speakers from around the world will be coming to Toronto for the initial two-day international portion of the Conference, which will be followed by a full day of discussions focused on Ontario specific odour & noise nuisance issues and land-use planning. This promises to be the key international meeting ground for environmental professionals managing and communicating odour concerns. The last day will also be important to attorneys, consultants, land-use planners, acoustic consultants, municipalities, and industry dealing with land use compatibility issues between emitters and sensitive uses.
